Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State and his counterpart from Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, emerged top on the winners list at the recently held Nigeria Agriculture Awards at the Landmark Event Centre in Lagos.

Governor Ganduje was awarded Farmer’s Governor of The Year for his immense contributions to the agricultural sector in the year 2015, as evidenced by his swift and emphatic response to the Tuta Absoluta scourge which threatened to wipe out Nigeria’s tomato crops.

On his part,Governor Nasir El-Rufai was awarded Pillar of Agriculture for his efforts at land reforms within a few months of assumption of office which has led to easy land ownership and titles in the state .

According to Richard-Mark Mbaram, the Chief Executive Officer of AGRONIGERIA, the award  seeks to recognize the contribution of individuals and groups to the development of  agriculture in Nigeria.
