Nigerian Agriculture Awards 2016/17 Project and Essay Competition

The Nigerian Agriculture Awards 2016/2017 is pleased to announce the commencement of its maiden youth competition targeting youths in secondary schools, tertiary institutions and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
The NAA Project and Essay Competition, themed “Building a Crop of Young Agroprenuers”, is an initiative aimed at involving a generation of youths that would effectively contribute to the development of the agricultural sector.  Read more about the competition.

First category: NYSC/STUDENTS OF TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS

You are required to conceptualize a project that solves a key problem in the agricultural sector, draw up a timeline for its completion and the likely impact it will have if implemented.

Prizes:
1st place  – N1 Million
2nd place – N500,000
3rd place – N250,000

CONDITIONS:
•    Must be a team effort.
•    Minimun of three persons on a project.
•    Candidates may not be from the same school.

Timeline: Feb 20th – March 6th

Second Category: SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

Essay topic: “If you were appointed Minister of Agriculture, what are the policies you would put in place to develop the sector”.

CONDITIONS: Not more than 500 words (Format: Microsoft Word Document)

Prizes:
1st place  – N250, 000
2nd place – N150,000
3rd place – N100,000

Timeline: Feb 20th – March 13th

Guidelines

•    Entries must be written in English language.

•    Entries must be the original work of the writer.  This does not rule out input or assistance from others.

•    Candidates are encouraged to be creative.

•    Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview to defend their work.

•    Entries will be disqualified if the shortlisted candidate fails to demonstrate a command of the content submitted.
